NovaTech Marine offers cell replacing and retrofitting services with brand new bilge alarms for various models, including GEORIM GBA150, FELLOW KOGYO FOCAS 1500, FOCAS 1800, BRANNSTROM Bilgmon 488, JOWA SeaGuard, and MARSEN BOA-2000.
These services are provided in strict compliance with IMO, SOLAS, and Resolution MEPC.107(49) adopted on 18 July 2003, which outlines the guidelines and specifications for pollution prevention equipment for machinery space bilges of ships.
According to the regulations, the accuracy of the 15 ppm Bilge Alarms should be checked at IOPP Certificate renewal surveys following the manufacturer's instructions. Alternatively, a calibrated 15 ppm Bilge Alarm can be replaced, and the calibration certificate must be retained on board for inspection purposes. The accuracy checks can only be carried out by the manufacturer or authorized persons.
Furthermore, in the event of a 15 ppm Bilge Alarm replacement, provisions must be made to ensure that the data recorded by the previous alarm remains available onboard for 18 months.
Count on NovaTech Marine to deliver reliable and compliant services, safeguarding your vessel's environmental compliance and enhancing pollution prevention measures for machinery space bilges. Interpretation:
In the context of resolution MEPC.107(49), the phrase "The accuracy of the 15 ppm Bilge Alarms should be checked at IOPP Certificate renewal surveys according to the manufacturer's instructions" in 4.2.11 shall be understood as follows, taking into account resolution A.1104(29):
A) The validity of the calibration certificate for the 15 ppm Bilge Alarms should be verified during IOPP (International Oil Pollution Prevention) annual, intermediate, or renewal surveys.
B) The accuracy of the 15 ppm bilge alarms should be checked through calibration and testing of the equipment. This process must be conducted by either the manufacturer or individuals authorized by the manufacturer. The checks should be performed at intervals not exceeding five years, or within the term specified in the manufacturer's instructions, whichever is shorter.
By adhering to this interpretation, ship operators can ensure compliance with the relevant regulations, guarantee the proper functioning of their bilge alarms, and maintain effective pollution prevention measures for machinery space bilges.
